I want to share a project I’ve been working on the past few months. I’m slowly rebuilding Morenatsu from the ground up in the Ren’py engine, and right now I’ve got a build that’s in a (mostly) presentable state.
I remember how difficult it was to get it to work the first time, and with downloads of the original becoming harder and harder to find, I think now’s a good time to share what I’ve got so far.
It’s a shame the team let the project die after so long, and as a big fan I want to do my part in making sure it isn’t forgotten.
Admittedly, this version is not 100% faithful to the original translation. However, I’ve taken advantage of the engine shift to give the whole thing an “editing” pass. Hopefully you find it more consistent now that everything is in a single “voice.”
In the spirit of fan remakes, I also am going to try my hand at finishing the routes that were never added (Torahiko, Soutarou, Kyouji). There are snippets of what I have so far tucked away in the game if you pick the right options on the right days.
Also, I’ve made a Mac version of the program, too, since I don’t remember the original being compatible with those systems.
+ Morenatsu can now be experienced without the use of AppLocale (Engine shift from KiriKiri to Ren’py)
+ 90% of dialogue rewritten for flow, clarity, and consistency
+ All content up to and including the camping sequences on the 15th
+ A mostly-rewritten Kounosuke route, featuring 3 additional days and a brand new beach event.
+ Daily events rearranged for stronger pacing (Veterans can expect some surprises here!)
+ A special (though temporary) ending ending featuring Torahiko
+ An expanded gallery system (Music Room and Credits Gallery)
+ New content written to expand the following character routes: – Torahiko (2 days) – Kounosuke (3 days) – Tatsuki (1 day) – Kyouji (1 day) – Soutarou (1 day)
+ Filled in missing content for the following characters: – Torahiko (Beach call, camping morning, camping sunset) – Kyouji (Beach call, camping morning) – Soutarou (Beach call, camping morning)
Features in progress:
+ Updated character profiles for the rest of the cast
+ Post-Camping content for all 9 characters
+ Additional route content for the following characters: – Torahiko – Kyouji – Soutarou
+ Route Guides (To be unlocked at the end of a character’s route)
+ Implementation of profiles and guides into the options menu

apparently it was posted to barachan.org way back in 2005, and the author made a follow-up gif and another gif featuring wolverine, but i’ve found basically nothing
